The fall Junior Team Tennis season's 12 and Under Girls' winning St. Mary's County team, the SMC Acers, advanced to compete in the Mid-Atlantic Single Gender JTT Championships on Dec. 3 & 4 at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. Team members Abby Fielder, Natalie Fielder, Manasa Iswara, Rinu Patel and Leslie Pope played lots of singles and doubles matches against players on other 12U girls teams. The other teams came from Montgomery County in Maryland and from Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Chesapeake in Virginia. The format of 4 singles and 4 doubles individual sets in each team match enabled all players to get experience playing a large number of opponents from all over Maryland, DC and Virginia. Thanks to JTT coordinator and team coach Brian Abell and all the parents and players who made the weekend a success! The Junior Team Tennis Fall Rally, held on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016 at St. Mary's Ryken HS, had 16 players participate, including 10 players brand new to JTT. The theme was County Fair Favorites, and team names in 18 and Under, 12 and Under and 10 and Under divisions were chosen based on that theme. The St. Mary's Team Team beat the Gators in the 18U division, and the Fries teams beat the Mules teams in the 12U and 10U divisions.
